    Septum Piercing in Conroe, TX

Thinking about a septum piercing? This page covers questions to ask about placement, initial jewelry, healing and aftercare. Downtown Piercing is coming soon to downtown Conroe, next door to Downtown Tattoo Company. We are not open and are not taking appointments yet; sign up on our homepage to hear when booking opens.

    Finding the sweet spot

A septum piercing goes through the thin soft tissue in front of the cartilage, often called the sweet spot. Not everyone's nose is symmetrical, so a piercer should look at your anatomy and explain how the jewelry will sit.

    Rings, clickers and retainers

Septum piercings are often started with a ring or circular barbell. Some people can flip the jewelry up to keep it out of sight at work or school. Ask what material the jewelry is made of and whether flipping it is a good idea while it heals.

    Healing

Healing time varies. Blowing your nose, colds, allergies and bumps can irritate a new septum piercing. Ask your piercer about cleaning, when it is safe to change jewelry and what to do if it feels off.

    Aftercare basics

Follow the written aftercare from the piercer who did your piercing. In general, keep hands off the jewelry, keep the area clean and avoid soaking it in pools, lakes or hot tubs while it heals. Contact your piercer with questions, and see a healthcare professional for signs of infection.
