Nose Piercing in Conroe, TX
Thinking about a nose piercing? This page covers questions to ask about placement, initial jewelry, healing and aftercare. Downtown Piercing is coming soon to downtown Conroe, next door to Downtown Tattoo Company. We are not open and are not taking appointments yet; sign up on our homepage to hear when booking opens.
Nostril and high-nostril placement
Most nose piercings go through the nostril, but the exact spot depends on your anatomy and the look you want. A high-nostril placement sits further up the side of the nose and generally needs more careful assessment of fit. Ask a piercer to mark the placement and explain why it suits you before anything is pierced.
Initial jewelry for a nose piercing
Initial nose jewelry is usually a stud with a flat or decorative end rather than a ring, because a stud moves less while the piercing heals. Ask what material it is made from and how the post length allows for swelling. A ring or hoop can usually be discussed once the piercing has healed.
Healing and everyday life
Healing time varies from person to person. Glasses, face masks, makeup, skin-care products and sleeping on that side can all irritate a new nose piercing. Ask your piercer how to clean it, what to avoid and when a downsize or jewelry change is appropriate.
Aftercare basics
Follow the written aftercare from the piercer who did your piercing. In general, keep hands off the jewelry, keep the area clean and avoid soaking it in pools, lakes or hot tubs while it heals. Contact your piercer with questions, and see a healthcare professional for signs of infection.
