    Dermal Piercing in Conroe, TX

Thinking about a dermal piercing? This page covers questions to ask about placement, initial jewelry, healing and aftercare. Downtown Piercing is coming soon to downtown Conroe, next door to Downtown Tattoo Company. We are not open and are not taking appointments yet; sign up on our homepage to hear when booking opens.

    How a dermal works

A dermal, or microdermal, has a single point: a small anchor sits under the skin and a decorative top screws onto it at the surface. It is different from a surface piercing, which has an entry and exit. Ask a piercer to explain how the anchor is placed and what it is made of.

    Placement and snagging

Common spots include the collarbone, cheekbones, chest, hips and hands. Areas that bend a lot or catch on clothing and towels are more likely to snag or be rejected. Ask which placements are realistic for your skin, job and lifestyle.

    Long-term care and removal

Dermal tops can usually be changed, but the anchor is meant to stay. Removal is a procedure in itself and should be done by a professional, not at home. Ask about cleaning, what to do if it snags and how removal works before you commit.

    Aftercare basics

Follow the written aftercare from the piercer who did your piercing. In general, keep hands off the jewelry, keep the area clean and avoid soaking it in pools, lakes or hot tubs while it heals. Contact your piercer with questions, and see a healthcare professional for signs of infection.
